Simchat Torah.  This is the holiday we celebrate at the end of Sukkot and coincides with the ritual of completing the yearly cycle of readings from the Torah.

Then we immediately chant the very first words of the Torah, “B’reishit Bara Elohim…” – And in the beginning…” In this way the cycle of reading the Torah is continuous year after year.

Simchat Torah is a fun holiday for children and literally means, “Happy Torah.” It is traditional to circle the sanctuary seven times carrying all the Torahs contained in the ark, while waving flags.

This year the holiday of Simchat Torah falls on Sunday, October 8th. Please join us at 5:00pm for a family service followed by pizza.
